Born in the early 1820s, Alexander Abadon was well-known for his wealth and charitable deeds in his hometown of Boniville, a small community tucked away in the heart of rural California. Alexander Abadon's rise to prominence in Boniville was not solely due to his wealth, but also his reputation as a generous philanthropist. He was known for donating large sums of money to local charities, building schools and hospitals, and providing employment opportunities for the town's residents. His success in business was not a result of luck or inheritance, but rather his astute investments in various industries, including agriculture, transportation, and real estate. It was during one of his business trips to Virginia in 1848 that Alexander met Samuel Abernathy, a man of questionable morals, and a fellow entrepreneur with a similar desire for wealth and success. Despite their different backgrounds and upbringings, the two men quickly formed a close bond based on their shared interests and ambitions. Alexander recognized Samuel's business acumen and proposed the idea of starting a mining and lumber company together, capitalizing on the gold rush craze that was sweeping through his home in the west.
![](assets/images/image04.jpg?v=d18ca441)
Their partnership proved to be a fruitful one, as Abernathy & Co. quickly became a leading player in the mining and lumber industry. The company's success was due in no small part to Alexander's financial expertise, which allowed them to make strategic investments and expand their operations. Samuel, for his part, was an excellent leader and manager, ensuring that the company's day-to-day operations ran smoothly. With a common goal in mind, the two men ventured into the New York mountain range, searching for untamed land that would serve as the perfect location to begin their operations. But what they found was far more sinister than they could have ever imagined. The rugged terrain proved to be a formidable challenge, but the two men were undeterred in their quest for riches. Soon, their camp began to prosper, with people venturing from all over to aid them in building the camp up into a blossoming town. But as the years rolled by, Abernathy was slowly but surely consumed by its slowly impending, but fatal doom. The arrival of the Anurak family in 1857 only served to fuel this growing sense of foreboding. Unlike their neighbors, the Anuraks were not content to merely coexist. Led by the charismatic patriarch Michael Anurak, they quickly established themselves as a dominant force within the community. The Anuraks were known for their deeply religious and superstitious beliefs, which slowly poisoned the minds of the townsfolk. Fear of the supernatural lurking in the nearby forest became the norm, replacing the once-peaceful coexistence of the townspeople. As the Anuraks' influence grew stronger each day, Abernathy became a town consumed by fear and paranoia, with the innocent living in constant prayer for relief from sickness and famine. The Anuraks were the most influential and dangerous family in Abernathy's history, and their insidious influence was the sole reason for the town's descent into darkness.
![](assets/images/image06.jpg?v=d18ca441)
By the time the 1860s rolled around, Abernathy was but a shadow of its former self. On a misty autumn morning in 1863, the townspeople gathered in the center of town, surrounded by Anurak family members. The Anuraks had brought a young man with them who they claimed was a criminal they had apprehended earlier that week. As the mist lifted, the Anuraks led the townspeople in a dark and twisted ritual in which they chanted incantations to the forest god. The young man was then dragged to the center of the circle and offered to the deity as a sacrifice.
As the sacrificial blood spilled onto the earth, a sense of dread fell over the town. The sky darkened, and a deep rumble echoed through the forest. Suddenly, the ground began to shake, and a massive creature emerged from the trees. The townspeople watched in horror as a towering, horned beast with eyes that glowed like embers let out a deafening roar that shook the very foundations of the town. The Anuraks were ecstatic, believing that their sacrifice had appeased the deity and brought them untold power and wealth. But the townspeople knew the truth - they had unleashed a dark and malevolent force upon their town.Abernathy was still scarred by these heinous practices and appeared to attract supernatural entities drawn in by the souls of unrest and the strange energy conjured up by the ritualistic sacrifices of the early Abernathy era. Since then, the town has been plagued by strange occurrences and unexplainable phenomena, leaving many residents terrified of the unknown. Some believe that the forest god still watches over Abernathy and that his wrath is the source of the town's many misfortunes. Others believe the town is cursed, and that the town’s immoral history is to blame. For Abernathy is a place of secrets and shadows, where the scars of the past run deep. Its streets are haunted by the ghosts of those who were sacrificed in the name of greed and ambition, and the very air hums with the sinister energy of a town consumed by darkness. As the sun sets on Abernathy, the shadows grow longer, and the whispers of the past grow louder, beckoning the living to join the dead in the eternal dance of death. In Abernathy, the living and the dead coexist, bound together by a dark and twisted history that refuses to be forgotten. And as the town continues to sink deeper into the abyss of its own making, it becomes clear that the only way to escape its grasp is to confront the demons of the past head-on and hope that, in doing so, they can banish the darkness once and for all.

As the town's dark history continues to haunt its residents, the annual Harvest Festival serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made to the forest god. The festival has a darker history, tied to the sacrifices that were made to the deity in the town's early days. The founding families, who have lived in Abernathy for generations, continue to celebrate the festival every year. However, the younger generation only participates out of necessity and is aware of the dark history tied to the festival's traditions, making it harder for them to want to accept and appreciate it.
![](assets/images/image10.jpg?v=d18ca441)
One of the festival's central traditions is the giving of offerings to the great stag statue in the central park. The statue is said to be a representation of the forest god, and it is believed that by offering gifts to it, the town can appease the deity and ensure a bountiful harvest for the following year. But the festival is not without its dangers. The supernatural entities that haunt Abernathy during the rest of the year often become more active during the festival. Some even claim to have seen the very horned beast that emerged from the forest on that fateful autumn morning in 1863, lurking around the edges of the festival grounds.Despite the potential dangers, the founding families are determined to keep the tradition alive. They see it as a way of honoring their ancestors and preserving the history of their town, no matter how dark and twisted it may be. But as the younger generation becomes increasingly skeptical of the festival's traditions, a rift begins to form within the community. Some believe that the festival should be abandoned altogether, while others are determined to keep it going, no matter the cost.

The Forest's Ancient Deity
![](assets/images/image21.jpg?v=d18ca441)
Deep within the ancient forests that surround the town of Abernathy, there lies a powerful entity, a great, shape-shifting stag that has roamed these woods since time immemorial. Known by many names, this forest god is said to have taken many forms over the centuries, appearing to those who seek its guidance in a variety of guises. In some tales, the forest god appears as a majestic buck, its antlers stretching high into the sky like the branches of a great tree. In others, it takes the form of a sleek and graceful doe, its eyes shining like jewels in the dappled sunlight, or even, in some instances, a human.
Whatever form it takes, the forest god is a powerful and mysterious presence, revered by the people of Abernathy as a symbol of the natural world and the power that lies within it. Its purpose is not fully understood, but many believe that it is a guardian of the forest, watching over the creatures that dwell within its boundaries and keeping the balance of nature in check.Despite its powerful presence, however, the forest god remains a mystery, a force of nature that defies explanation or understanding, even with its darker ties to the town's gruesome history. It is a reminder that there are forces in this world that are beyond our control, and that the power of the natural world is a force to be reckoned with.

A Disrupted Energy
The town's abandoned buildings are rumored to be home to trapped spirits, whose ethereal cries can be heard resonating through the deserted streets. Some claim that they are the remains of victims of the notorious sacrifices made long ago to the very same forest god mentioned, their restless souls unable to find peace amongst the violent negative energy. Others describe more recent fatalities, including wandering hikers and careless tourists who got lost and never found their way back, or fell prey to something more sinister than supernatural.Abernathy, however, is home to more than just the sombre ghosts of the dead. Creatures with glowing eyes and razor-sharp claws lurk in the shadows, making the dense and oppressive forest floor their walking grounds. Some of them have human forms that have been distorted and warped by the call of the full moon, rendering them wolf like beasts. Many people have terrifying tales to share about demons and other evil, ferocious creatures that stalk their dreams, levy curses upon families, rattle houses in the dead of night, and bring haunting omens of death. Unseen forces with no evidence but the remains of lost, unlucky souls. The town is simply known for its oppressive atmosphere of gloom, but not all residents follow these traditional superstitions. Stories of imprisoned ghouls and enigmatic creatures of the night are frequently met with skepticism, especially among teenagers and younger generations. Typically, they think that they are too logical and sensible to hold such beliefs, a common ideology held with those focused on the rapidly changing world around them. However, though only rumored, some groups have used the occult to rebel against the standards of their community and families. They view Abernathy's supernatural happenings as an opportunity to establish a connection with something greater than themselves, something that goes beyond the ordinary world they are familiar with and the dull lives they lead in such a stuffy, small town. In remote locations surrounded by thick brush and abandoned buildings, these groups meet in secret and conduct rituals and seances. But they do so at their own expense. The negative energy that emanates in Abernathy is not to be trifled with, and those who try to control it could find themselves in over their heads. Those who disturb the rest of the ghosts and creatures that lurk within the town may not always find them friendly, and interfering with the supernatural can have disastrous effects. While some people might find Abernathy's superstitions amusing, others may choose to indulge in them, running the risk of unleashing forces they hadn't intended to play with... or disturbing the den of something much more dangerous than they could have ever imagined.

The Beckoning of Abernathy
The town of Abernathy is afflicted by a curse, an unseen and ominous power that attracts both locals and visitors before engulfing them in its strange, otherworldly grasp. Even though visitors to Abernathy may arrive of their own free will, they are blissfully unaware that they are being drawn there indefinitely by forces beyond their comprehension. Even those born and raised in Abernathy are vulnerable
to the curse's control. They may leave town for many years in search of adventure and a new life, but they will always be drawn back to their hometown. The curse is subtle, seeping into people's minds as they enter the town and snatching them up in ways they are unable to understand. The natural charm of Abernathy may captivate those who succumb to the curse, or they may feel compelled to stay by some "coincidental" circumstance that prevents them from leaving. Your car might break down unexpectedly in the dead of a cold, winter's night, you might miss your flight, believing for sure that you'd gotten the times for departure correct, only to find that you were off by a whole day. No matter the circumstance, the town's curse is a suffocating

mystery that can overwhelm even the sharpest minds and entice even the most resilient cattle back into its clutches. People who spend too much time in Abernathy never truly leave.
They carry a piece of the devil of the town with them forever, a constant reminder of their place, a pawn in its jaws.

The Wolf of Abernathy
Since 1979, the "Wolf of Abernathy" has terrorized the town with his vicious and brutal crimes.
The serial killer preys on both men and women, leaving mutilated and dismembered bodies along the Wolf River. Despite a growing list of victims, the killer remains at large, evading capture and instilling fear in the residents of the small mountain town.Even the local police department has failed to apprehend the elusive monster, leaving the community to fend for themselves time and again, earning them criticism for their inaction in assisting the bereaved families of their loved ones.
Due to an increasing number of coincidental disappearances from the establishment, The Anomaly, a once-popular dive bar, is now viewed as a hunting ground for this killer, causing its reputation to plummet. They suspect he preys on tourists with little knowledge of the area, luring them into the woods after dark. Others wonder if he's even human, given the brutality of his homicides. The Wolf of Abernathy remains one of the town's most infamous mysteries, and the hunt for him grips residents with increasing desperation with each passing year. Will you be the diamond in the rough, catching him before any more innocent lives are lost?Or will you fall into his clutches as well, spending your eternal rest among the worms and leaves of the forest he stalks?

The Disappearances
Missing hikers, tourists, and locals... troublingly, Abernathy has seen a steadily increasing number of people vanish into thin air in recent years.
The community suspects foul play, while the police department searches for any other explanation, from simply running away, to succumbing to the elements of the harsh New York mountain range. Even when the bodies of these missing people are brought to them, glaring them in the face, their causes of death are always dismissed as nothing out of the ordinary.
![](assets/images/image35.jpg?v=d18ca441)
It's been a year since Sarah Carver, a fearless investigative journalist, vanished while visiting family in Abernathy. The circumstances of her disappearance were played off like nothing, but locals are convinced more sinister dealings were involved: Sarah was covering the story of the notorious Wolf of Abernathy at the time, and her investigative work had made her many enemies in the big city. Despite an extensive search effort, no trace of Sarah has been found yet, leaving her loved ones and the community haunted by the question of what really happened to her.Abernathy is tormented by the memory of the unfairness and selfishness that victimized these hapless individuals, and their heartbroken families who are still searching for them. Regardless of who or what caused their disappearance, the memory of their plight lingers on as a haunting reminder that nobody and nowhere in town is truly secure.

Strange Occurances
Undoubtedly, Abernathy is under the grip of a malevolent and oppressive force, giving rise to inexplicable occurrences that boggle the mind.
Stories of time anomalies in which days transform into weeks and weeks into months in an instant, leaving them confused and unable to tell the year. Descriptions of an eerie and disorienting feeling emanating from the forest's heart, luring them deeper inside like a siren's call, only to stop them at the descent of a steep cliff. Residents reporting sightings of strange and otherworldly creatures preying on their home pets and farm animals, threatening their sanity and peace.
The tales of hauntings along the old railroad tracks and settler's mine, both dating back to Abernathy's founding in the 1800s, have endured the test of time. The older, more superstitious residents tell stories of a darker era, spinning tales of the initial settlers being punished for their greed by being banished to the mine's depths, never to see the light again.
Once a serene haven for families and children, Abadon Lake lies in a bone-chilling silence, a grim reminder of the horrors that once infested the area, another brutal legend. The lake was once a popular summer getaway, but now it is rumored to be cursed, with the summer camp on its shores serving as a death trap for young and adventurous campers. Every year, three lives were taken, like a ritualistic sacrifice, with the death toll never falling short of this number. The camp was suffocated by memories of tragedy and was forced to shut down in 1943, but the legacy it left behind still haunts the lake to this day. Now, after two decades of inactivity, the camp has reopened its doors, but the locals worry that the otherworldly entity that resides there will awaken from its slumber. The very thought of it sends shivers down their spines, as they fear that the darkness that once consumed Abadon Lake will return, and claim more of their innocent youth.
![](assets/images/image37.jpg?v=d18ca441)
Since its very beginning, Abernathy has been shrouded in darkness and the unexplainable. The town's shady past is riddled with tales of curses, hauntings, and ghostly apparitions lurking around every corner, ready to ensnare unsuspecting visitors and residents alike. The air is thick with a palpable sense of foreboding, as if the town is alive itself with some malevolent force that watches and waits for the right moment to strike, a power much greater than the people who inhabit it.In Abernathy, the line between reality and nightmare is blurred, and those who venture too far into the shadows may never return.

This rank requires decent intelligence and prowess, as well as a basic understanding of the setting and rules.
Current Captain is Diesel.
The team has recently funded a special investigators unit.
Building was built in 1882 by the Abernathy family with help from the big city.
Abernathy Police Department
In this small mountain town, the Abernathy Police Department is the only law enforcement organization, operated by Police Chief Diesel; however, do not look to them to be the heroes of the neighborhood. They have a bad reputation and are despised by the locals for being wasteful, cheap, and rude. The major city of New York provided them with much-needed funds a year ago, but their operations have not changed significantly. With the residents disappearing faster and faster as the days go on, as well as the pressure of a prowling serial killer, you're better off taking matters into your own hands and conducting your own investigations if you want to accomplish anything. The Abernathy Police Department may wear badges, but they certainly don't inspire any confidence.

The Town Council
The town council of Abernathy is a body of elected representatives who took over running the town from the founding families in 1911, just after the turn of the century. The change was intended to bring fairness and harmony to the community's many woes, but there have long since been allegations of corruption. Some people believe that, at least in secret, the town council is still influenced by the founding families, who were notorious for their historical greed. Who is really in charge in Abernathy is a mystery that threatens to split the town apart as tensions and suspicions mount, with the most recent heirs of the Founding Three coming under the fire of suspicion and blame.

This rank requires your character to be adaptable, decisive, and quick-witted.

The Founding Families
A collection of longtime residents who have lived in Abernathy since the town's founding are referred to as The Founding Families. They contributed significantly to Abernathy's expansion and transformation into a thriving, tranquil, and prosperous town. However, the younger generation in Abernathy is ignorant of the possibility that there is more going on in the background, preferring to live life as the world changes around them. The Founding Families have been dogged by rumors and controversy for generations despite their achievements, their formerly esteemed positions have come under scrutiny over time, and speculation have followed them everywhere. What was once the foundation of the town is now beginning to crumble, and it remains to be seen what secrets the Founding Families have been keeping all these years.
